General stuff about Upton dances
There are two main Upton dances – the stick dance and the handkerchief dance. The stick dance is widely done, but for whatever reason, although we learned it a few years ago, and have danced it out and at Ales. It’s never quite caught on, perhaps because of other sides’ tendency to use the sticking for some messing around.
However, we like the handkerchief dance, tiring and challenging though it can be. Rather than describe the components separately, here’s a .pdf of the detailed instructions for performing it.
