Standon Ale 2002

Most Morris sides have an annual occasion where other sides are asked along for a day or evening or dancing. These are often known as 'Ales', a term which goes back at least to late mediaeval times for periodic occasions when villages or organisations would let their hair down and have a good time. The practice season is the time when most Ales now take place, when it is (mostly) too cold or dark to be outside. Our good friends at Standon always hold their Ale at Much Hadham in early February; it's always a good occasion, and this year I took the digital camera along:
