| It's difficult to make this text original when we do the same thing each year! Thus this page rather repeats last year's I fear. A sort of 'tradition' has developed since the mid 1980s that on August Bank Holiday Monday, DDMM head off for the lovely Suffolk coastal town of Southwold, home of Adnams beer.
We always dance at the same pubs in the town: the Red Lion, the Lord Nelson, and the Sole Bay Inn, where we usually do two shows. Earlier this year came the terrible news that Tony Fisher, the former landlord of the Sole Bay, and the man whose hospitality was largely responsible for DDMM's Southwold 'tradition', had died. We'd like to dedicate these pages to him and his widow Rose. Once again, Chris Chapman of the Sole Bay continued the tradition Tony started and we thank him. We repeat here the photo of the two of them taken in August 2003. DD's guests this year consisted of Mike and Adam Garland (East Suffolk), Michael Blandford (Cambridge), David Evans, Richard Hall, and Richard Coe (Hageneth). |
