Southwold 2001

It's difficult to make this text original when we do the same thing each year! A sort of 'tradition' has developed since the mid 1980s that on August Bank Holiday Monday, DDMM head off for the lovely Suffolk coastal town of Southwold, home of Adnams beer. The weather in 2001 was rather good.

We always dance at the same pubs in the town: the Red Lion, the Lord Nelson, and the Sole Bay Inn, where we usually do two shows, and are always well looked after by the landlord, Tony Fisher (in the photo at the right). This is going to be Tony's last year, as he retires in October, and he will be much missed. DD's guests this year consisted of Mike Garland (East Suffolk), Michael Blandford (Cambridge), and John Tricky (Peterborough MM).

In the Market Square

Since 2000, a pier has appeared at Southwold, so we paid it a visit. It was rather windy, and some fool threw a stick off it...

Badingham in the evening

Badingham is on the country route home and has always been a convenient place to stop for a show and dinner on the way back, but because it hasn't always come up to expectations we've skipped it the past couple of years. But this year we tried it again, and it was very good. The landlord was most welcoming, the food was good and we actually had an appreciative audience.
