May Day 2003

The weather on May Morning 2003 was really rather good for this time of year, and it was the nicest day for some years.

Wandlebury

As usual, we're off to the earthwork at Wandlebury at 5:30. The sunrise was magnificent.
And, also as usual, we had an audience.
We've found that it's a most enjoyable experience to visit schools when May Day falls on a working day. This year we went visiting to the east of Royston.

Barrington School

Foxton School

Fowlmere School

We dance at schools until lunchtime, then off we went to meet our old friends Standon Morris, who have also been out since crack of dawn.

Thirfield, Rose & Crown

And we mustn't forget that this year May Day was on a Thursday, so in the evening we had our first regular dance out of the season. We decided to do just one pub, our 'home pub' at Great Wilbraham

Great Wilbraham, The Carpenter's Arms

May Day also happens to be the landlord Bob's birthday
