May Day 2002

The weather on May Day 2002 was really rather remarkably good for this time of year, and it was the nicest day for some years.

Wandlebury

As usual, we're off to the earthwork at Wandlebury at 5:30. The sunrise was magnificent.
And, as usual, we had an audience.
A little later on Radio Cambridge came out to interview the Squire as we danced.

Could this be the largest 'Bonny Green Garters' on record?

Hildersham, the Pear Tree

After school, it is normal to repair to a local hostelry for a well-earned cup of tea. This year we went to one of our favourite pubs, the Pear Tree at Hildersham, and there met up with our old friends Standon MM who had also been out since the crack of dawn.
