| Our 2002 tour was arranged with Kempen in Germany, where DD last went at the end of the 1980s. Kempen is the main town in Kreis Viersen, which is twinned with East Cambridgeshire. Chris did most of the organising, and there was going to be festival there on 30 June. We stayed in the agricultural college, the DEULA. This was going to be the date of the World Cup Final, and was potentially made more interesting when it turned out it was going to be between Germany and Brazil. We arrived on Saturday morning and spent the day dancing round the town with a meal in the evening. Sunday we waited for the end of the game--which Germany lost--and then took part in the festival. It must be said that the folks of Kempen were very kind and hospitable to us. | ||
