Dancing the Dyke 2001

In 1991, the Devil's Dyke Morris Men danced the length of the Devil's Dyke from Woodditton to Reach in aid of their charities for the year. This year we decided to repeat the feat. Our charities are the Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Wildlife Trusts. See the letter from the Squire about this.

The foot and mouth outbreak threatened to get in our way, as the Dyke was closed this year. As enterprising as ever, this did not put us off and an equivalent seven and a half mile route was surveyed from Great Wilbraham to Reach, with stops in villages on the way. Each man got sponsorship for his effort.

Fifteen men undertook the route, which ended up at Reach Fair. The total raised was £2,321.30. Here are a number of photos taken en route
