Cyril Papworth Memorial, 20 April 2002

Cyril Papworth, who died on 13 October 2001, was one of the senior members of Cambridge Morris Men, and who had been dancing with that side since before World War II. Almost everyone who had anything to do with Cambridge at some time over the last 60 years had met Cyril. As well as dancing Cotswold morris, he was very interested in the Molly dancing of East Anglia. He was buried in Comberton, whence came a number of Molly dances.

Cambridge MM decided to tour some of the villages in his memory on the morning of 20 April, and invited various other sides along. Two tours were organised; DDMM were in the company of Gog Magog Molly (Cambridge) and Oyster Morris (from Kent). We visited three villages, and here is the pictorial record.

The weather was pleasant and warm and it was a most enjoyable day, a good way to remember Cyril.
